I'm Probably Thinking Too Much Again

Can someone please tell me why ovens go up in temperature by degrees that run in fives? I'm just wondering if anyone actually uses the temperature of 385 or 410 or 330?

Come on, we all know that we use degrees (whilst cooking) in increments of 25. 300, 325, 350, 375, 400...

Very good point about electric ovens. Do you have the answer to my question? In our new place we have a gas oven, whose knob has degrees in increments of 25, but no way of telling you when the oven is up to temperature. Why, oh, why? :)

Sometimes I do set the oven for random temperatures, like 365, just because I can. What would be funny is to give someone a recipe with a temp like that and make it seem like it was critical. Which means Karey wouldn't be able to make it.

I have some rolls that I make that the temperature needs to be at 380, which I have always thought was really weird. Also, if my header is bugging you I would love for you to make another one for me since I can't figure out my stupid photoshop elements!

I've thought about that too, and I don't have a good answer either. I suppose if your oven got "off" and baked things at a hotter temperature that what it read, you could turn it down by increments of five until it was just right. But that would be implying that their product was faulty. Who knows...
