Heard in our Home (but really in the car)

I love hearing quiet giggles coming from the kids in the backseat. It definitely better than the whining and complaining that usually typifies our car rides, even a short ten minute one; as a side note, why do my kids hate the car?

Parker was giggling for a good ten minutes before I really tuned in to hear what it was all about.

The subject? Poop.

Parker: Giggle, giggle, giggle
Leah: "Poop!"
Parker: Giggle, giggle, giggle
Leah: "Poop!"
Mom, shaking her head, "Can you make him laugh about something else? Try another word."
Leah: "Woodchips!"

Needless to say, it didn't get quite the same reaction. So she went back to poop.

Are kids born with an innate sense of bathroom humor (very little of which I find funny at all. However, my dad did show us a really funny bottle of hand sanitizer last Sunday. It gave me a good laugh.)? How do they know that laughing at bodily functions is funny? It must come from diaper changes. I laugh at them- in order to stop myself from gagging. Maybe I should be more clear about how I really feel in regards to dirty diapers. It may scar my child for life if every time I change his diaper it is accompanied by a disgusted look on my face, little to no eye contact, and the occasional vomiting. It's okay kids, don't transfer this on to yourself. It's just your poop I can't stand. So, I'll continue laughing about it; and so will they.

I think my kids were born with it, at least it seems that way. It doesn't matter how much bathroom humor is said, it never gets old or less funny to kids.

I love it! You're a better mom than me for laughing through diaper changes! :)
