President Hinckley

Tyler and Katy, I hope you don't mind that I stole your video.

I've had very mixed emotions over the last few days about President Hinckley's passing. As I'm sure most everyone has thought, it is very strange to realize that the prophet I have looked at most of my life- is gone. Of course, this feeling is always accompanied by the ever present knowledge that President Hinckley was reunited with his wife once again. It is such a comfort to know that this church will always function regardless of death and loss. A new prophet will be sustained and the Church will go on as before; continuing to receive latter-day revelation. Now, as we move on from the Hinckley Era I am excited to know that I will come to love and appreciate all that the next Prophet has in store.

Are You Happy Now?

YES!!! Sorry all you snow haters! I got my wish. I think I posted my last entry at around 8:30-ish this morning when it was 40 degrees and sunny with blue skies. Now it is 32 degrees (with the wind it's feeling more like 22) and SNOWING like crazy! I had to deliver a notice to one of my tenants and while we were out in the Snow Tornado Leah was just laughing at all the snow in her face.

Warm Weather

I wish the people would stop saying it's going to snow! I think snow has been forecast for the past 2 days and today. Thus far we have NOTHING beyond the remnants of the last big snow. Now- all this talk of big snow storms is just getting my hopes up. So quit it! It's 40 degrees outside (I was outside on Friday and Saturday in a short sleeved shirt with no jacket or coat)! And while that weather is lovely it's not freezing, which is something (I think) we need to get snow.

Fun Game

I downloaded a widget to the bottom of my page. It's a pretty fun game that I've found on a few other blogs that I enjoy looking through. Go on, try it! Matt and I have only managed to get to level 6 -sigh-

Baby Lingo

Leah's speech has really improved lately. She is such a mimic and tries so hard to copy most phrases and actions. This morning, Leah once again surprised me with her ever expanding vocabulary. For breakfast she has two options (I know, Matt thinks I'm a mean mom for only giving her two options but she won't eat anything else for breakfast - I've tried). Every morning I show her the box of Cheerios and the box of frozen pancakes from the freezer and she gets to choose. This morning I hadn't even said what they were yet and Leah emphatically shouted, "Dee-Dee-Oh's," and pointed to the Cheerios box. It was so funny! Then while I made her breakfast she wandered around the house saying, "Dee-Dee-Oh's, Dee-Dee-Oh's, Dee-Dee-Oh's!" I finished making her breakfast and she scrambled to get into her seat. As I sat Leah in her highchair and handed her the bowl of Cheerios and her cup she said, "Dake You." Loosely translated: thank you. Oh, I love that girl!

Happy? Sad?

Well, I finally had our carpets cleaned again.

Part of my job as the leasing agent for our apartment community has me showing apartments (duh) to potential tenants. Well, being a small complex, I have the 'opportunity' to show all these prospects OUR apartment as we rarely have any vacant apartments to show. Normally this doesn't bother me. Although I have seen my fair share of weird, eccentric and sometimes just creep
y individuals (who have not been allowed into my home) I find that most people are fairly normal and perfectly pleasant to invite in. This is all fine until the Winter and Spring seasons. People tracking mud onto my carpet and freshly cleaned kitchen floors is not okay. Of course I can't say anything to these people about it, but come on... have you ever heard of wiping your feet before entering what is clearly my home? This leads me to my original topic of having my carpets cleaned.

Luckily, because I do have so much foot traffic in our apartment I am entitled to having our carpets cleaned every 3-4 mont
hs for free. So, this last Sunday night Matt and I went about moving out as much furniture from the carpeted areas as possible. Moving furniture here there and everywhere we eventually discovered that all of our furniture was out from the living room (except the t.v. stand and computer desk - I didn't want to deal with the cords) and most of it was out of Leah's room as well. We had put EVERYTHING into our kitchen/dining area!

Now, onto my titled topic: should I be happy that our kitchen is so huge that it can store the majority of our furniture and still have access to the fridge and cupboards, or sad that we have so little furniture that we can fit it into our kitchen? Obviously, I think I'll opt for the former in hopes that one day we will end up with so much furniture that we can no longer live in an apartment!
